Too Chicken to Plunge?
Too chicken to plunge? That’s ok! You can still be a part of the fun. Many of our plunges have a “Chicken Coop”. Raise pledges and receive incentives just like a Penguin except no going into the icy water. You’ll get to hang out in the “Chicken Coop” staying warm (and dry!) while you cheer on the brave Penguins! It’s a fun way to still be a part of the team.
All Chickens under the age of 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult to be a part of the Chicken Coop.
FREEZIN’ FOR A REASON
Penguin Plunge is the largest grassroots fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut. Participants (“Penguins” / “Plungers”) raise funds to run (Plunge) into the chilly waters of Connecticut. The Plunges take place in five locations throughout Connecticut at lakes and beaches across the state. The events take place throughout the winter season, from January through mid-March. Your participation provides funding to support over 12,000 athletes who participate in Special Olympics Connecticut’s year-round training and competition in 26 sports. Costumes are encouraged – we even give an award for the best costumes! Many Penguins form teams to band together and share in this one-of-a-kind experience.
To join in on the fun, Penguins need to raise a minimum of $100. In addition to the awards for top fundraisers and best costumes, Penguins receive incentive prizes for their fundraising efforts.
